As a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) specialist in the 1Z3X1 career field, you will serve as a crucial link between ground forces and air assets during combat operations. Your role will involve coordinating and controlling close air support, artillery fire, and other combat support assets to provide real-time situational awareness and firepower to ground commanders. This position requires exceptional physical fitness, mental agility, specialized skills, and a dedication to supporting ground operations with precision and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Close Air Support Coordination: Coordinate and direct close air support (CAS) operations to provide aerial firepower and support to ground forces. Liaise with aircrews, ground units, and command and control centers to ensure effective integration of air assets in combat scenarios. Communicate with aircraft pilots to relay mission objectives, target information, and airspace coordination.

2. Combat Communication: Establish and maintain reliable and secure communications networks to facilitate real-time information exchange between ground forces, command centers, and air assets. Operate tactical radios, satellite communication systems, and other specialized equipment to relay critical information and requests for support. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of combat events and coordinate medical evacuations when necessary.

3. Joint Fires Integration: Integrate and coordinate fires from multiple sources, including artillery, mortars, naval gunfire, and close air support. Analyze target information, assess collateral damage risks, and determine the appropriate firepower and timing for engagement. Collaborate with fire support teams and ground commanders to synchronize fires and maximize combat effectiveness.

4. Special Operations Support: Provide TACP support to special operations forces during high-risk and specialized missions. Operate in dynamic and fast-paced environments, adapting tactics and procedures to ensure mission success. Coordinate with special operations teams, intelligence assets, and other supporting units to achieve mission objectives.

5. Tactical Expertise and Training: Maintain proficiency in tactical skills, including land navigation, small unit tactics, weapons handling, and combat medical procedures. Stay updated on the latest technology, equipment, and procedures relevant to TACP operations. Participate in rigorous physical training to meet and exceed the demanding physical standards of the TACP career field.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Tactical Air Control Party Apprentice Course.

- Excellent physical fitness and the ability to meet demanding physical standards.

- Strong mental resilience, adaptability, and decision-making skills in high-stress situations.

- Proficiency in tactical skills, including land navigation, small unit tactics, and weapons handling.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with team members, ground commanders, and aircrews.

- Willingness to deploy and operate in austere and hostile environments for extended periods.

- Successful completion of the TACP Selection Course and subsequent training phases.
