As a Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) specialist in the 1T0X1 career field, you will play a critical role in training and preparing Air Force personnel to survive and evade in hostile environments, resist capture, and escape if necessary. Your expertise in survival skills, evasion tactics, and resistance training will directly contribute to the safety and survival of military personnel in high-risk situations. This position requires exceptional physical and mental resilience, specialized skills, and a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and operational security.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Survival Training: Instruct Air Force personnel on essential survival skills, including wilderness survival techniques, navigation, shelter construction, fire building, water procurement, and food foraging. Teach personnel how to assess and mitigate environmental hazards, administer first aid, and improvise equipment to increase their chances of survival in various terrains and climates.

2. Evasion and Escape Training: Train personnel on evasion tactics and techniques to avoid capture by hostile forces. Teach personnel how to navigate covertly, hide, camouflage themselves, and use terrain to their advantage. Provide instruction on escape methods, such as lock picking, improvised tools, and evasion tactics. Foster mental resilience and psychological preparedness for evading hostile pursuers.

3. Resistance Training: Prepare personnel for potential capture and subsequent interrogation by teaching resistance techniques and methods to withstand psychological and physical pressure. Train personnel on the Code of Conduct, including the rights and responsibilities of captured personnel. Simulate realistic scenarios to enhance their ability to resist and maintain their personal integrity in captivity.

4. SERE Operations Support: Participate in SERE operations and exercises to support real-world and training missions. Assist in planning and executing realistic training scenarios that replicate high-risk situations. Collaborate with other units and agencies to provide specialized SERE support during joint and combined operations.

5. Program Management and Administration: Maintain accurate records of training activities, certifications, and student performance. Conduct research and develop instructional materials to enhance training programs. Stay updated on the latest SERE techniques, technologies, and procedures. Assist in the development and revision of SERE doctrine and training curricula.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a top-secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the SERE Specialist Course.

- Excellent physical fitness and the ability to meet demanding physical standards.

- Strong mental resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in high-stress situations.

- Proficiency in survival skills, evasion tactics, and resistance techniques.

- Effective communication and instruction skills to train and mentor personnel.

- Willingness to deploy and operate in austere and hostile environments for extended periods.

- Successful completion of SERE Selection Course and subsequent training phases.
