As a Diagnostic Imaging Technician in the 4R0X1 career field, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support medical diagnoses and treatment decisions in the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include operating and maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment, preparing patients for imaging procedures, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely image interpretation. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: Perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound examinations. Position patients correctly, adjust imaging equipment, and use appropriate imaging techniques to obtain high-quality images. Follow established protocols and safety guidelines.

2. Patient Care and Safety: Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explain the process, and address any concerns or questions. Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures, including the use of radiation protection measures. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions and provide appropriate care and assistance as needed.

3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and control diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring accurate image acquisition and quality. Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on imaging equipment. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to appropriate personnel. Adhere to safety protocols for equipment operation and maintenance.

4. Image Evaluation and Documentation: Review and evaluate diagnostic images for technical quality, clarity, and diagnostic value. Collaborate with radiologists and other medical professionals to ensure accurate image interpretation and timely reporting of results. Document findings and maintain accurate and organized imaging records.

5. Radiation Safety and Compliance: Adhere to radiation safety practices and guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies related to diagnostic imaging operations.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Diagnostic Imaging Apprentice Course.

- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging techniques, equipment operation, and patient positioning.

- Proficiency in using imaging modalities such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.

- Familiarity with radiation safety practices and radiation protection measures.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

- Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety practices.

- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
