As a Pharmacy Technician in the 4P0X1 career field, you will play a crucial role in providing pharmaceutical support and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medications within the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications, maintaining pharmacy inventory, and providing patient education on medication usage. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a commitment to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medication Dispensing: Assist pharmacists in accurately and safely dispensing medications to patients. Prepare prescription orders, measure and package medications, and label them appropriately. Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Verify patient information and maintain accurate dispensing records.

2. Pharmacy Inventory Management: Receive, store, and organize pharmaceutical supplies and medications. Perform inventory checks, monitor expiration dates, and ensure adequate stock levels. Rotate stock and dispose of expired or damaged medications following proper procedures. Assist in maintaining appropriate documentation for inventory control.

3. Patient Education and Counseling: Provide medication information and instructions to patients. Explain proper usage, potential side effects, and precautions associated with prescribed medications. Answer patient questions and address concerns related to medication therapy. Promote medication adherence and patient safety through effective communication.

4. Pharmacy Operations and Compliance: Perform routine pharmacy tasks, such as data entry, prescription processing, and prescription refill coordination. Assist in maintaining pharmacy equipment and ensuring proper functioning. Adhere to privacy and security regulations for handling confidential patient information. Follow pharmacy quality assurance processes and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

5. Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and other pharmacy staff to ensure coordinated and efficient pharmaceutical services. Communicate effectively to relay information regarding medication orders, drug interactions, and patient concerns. Contribute to a positive and customer-focused pharmacy environment.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Pharmacy Technician Apprentice Course.

- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication dispensing processes, and pharmaceutical calculations.

- Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and equipment.

- Understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, and patient privacy requirements.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling and record keeping.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks.

- Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
