As an Aircrew Egress Systems Specialist in the 2A6X3 career field, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and functionality of aircrew egress systems within the United States Air Force. Your role will involve inspecting, maintaining, and repairing aircraft ejection seats, canopies, escape slides, and other egress components. You will play a critical role in ensuring the readiness and survivability of aircrew members during emergency situations. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Egress System Maintenance: Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft egress systems, including ejection seats, canopies, harnesses, oxygen systems, and escape slides. Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance inspections to identify and address potential issues. Maintain accurate maintenance records and document all maintenance activities.

2. System Installation and Removal: Install, remove, and modify egress systems as required for maintenance or upgrades. Follow technical orders, maintenance manuals, and engineering drawings to ensure proper installation and alignment of components. Conduct functional tests and ensure proper integration with other aircraft systems.

3. Emergency Procedures Training: Provide training to aircrew members on egress system operation, emergency procedures, and egress drills. Instruct personnel on the use of ejection seats, parachute systems, and survival equipment. Ensure aircrew members understand safety protocols and can effectively respond during emergency situations.

4. System Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot complex egress system malfunctions and failures using diagnostic equipment, technical data, and specialized tools. Identify and replace faulty components, conduct repairs, and perform functional tests to ensure proper system operation. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and engineers to resolve complex technical issues.

5. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure the highest level of safety for aircrew members. Comply with technical orders, maintenance instructions, and safety directives related to egress systems. Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Aircrew Egress Systems Apprentice Course.

- Strong knowledge of aircraft egress systems, components, and operation.

- Familiarity with technical orders, maintenance manuals, and engineering drawings.

- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems.

- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety protocols.

- Effective communication skills to provide training and instructions to aircrew members.

- Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks requiring strength, dexterity, and stamina.

- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other maintenance personnel.

- Flexibility to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and elevated platforms.
