As a Contracting specialist in the 6C0X1 career field, you will play a vital role in procuring goods and services for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include negotiating and administering contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting mission objectives by acquiring necessary resources. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and a thorough understanding of contract management principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract Management: Manage the entire lifecycle of contracts, including solicitation, negotiation, award, administration, and closeout. Analyze requirements and develop contract documents, including statements of work, cost estimates, and evaluation criteria. Conduct market research to identify potential sources, evaluate proposals, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

2. Acquisition Planning: Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to develop acquisition strategies and plans. Assess requirements, establish acquisition objectives, and determine the most appropriate contract type and method of procurement. Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and ethical standards throughout the acquisition process.

3. Contract Administration: Monitor contract performance, including deliverables, schedules, and contractor performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, review invoices, and process payments. Resolve contract disputes, claims, and modifications in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures. Maintain accurate contract files and documentation.

4. Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain effective relationships with contractors and suppliers. Conduct pre-award surveys and evaluations to assess contractor capabilities and past performance. Monitor contractor performance and conduct periodic evaluations to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to contractual requirements.

5. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations, laws, and Air Force instructions. Identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, such as cost overruns, schedule delays, and performance issues. Conduct audits and reviews to ensure proper contract administration and compliance with regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Contracting Apprentice Course.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Effective communication and negotiation skills.

- Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations and contract management principles.

- Proficiency in using contracting software and tools.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing acquisition requirements and processes.
