As a Dental Laboratory specialist in the 4Y0X2 career field, you will play a crucial role in providing dental laboratory support to the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include fabricating dental prosthetics, appliances, and devices based on dental impressions and prescriptions. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality dental care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prosthetic Fabrication: Use dental materials and techniques to fabricate various dental prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances. Follow dental prescriptions and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication. Utilize specialized equipment and tools to shape, form, and finish dental prosthetics.

2. Dental Impressions and Models: Assist dental providers in taking accurate dental impressions of patients' teeth and surrounding tissues. Use impression materials to create precise dental models. Pour, trim, and prepare dental models for use in the fabrication process.

3. Prosthetic Repair and Modification: Perform repairs and modifications on existing dental prosthetics and appliances. Evaluate the condition of damaged prosthetics, assess the best course of action, and implement necessary repairs. Modify prosthetics to ensure proper fit and function as directed by dental providers.

4. Quality Control and Documentation: Perform quality control checks on completed dental prosthetics to ensure they meet established standards and specifications. Document and maintain accurate records of all laboratory procedures, materials used, and patient information. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with dental providers and other members of the dental team to ensure accurate communication and understanding of patient needs and treatment plans. Consult with dental providers on appropriate prosthetic materials and techniques. Provide recommendations and guidance based on knowledge of dental laboratory practices.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Dental Laboratory Apprentice Course.

- Knowledge of dental laboratory techniques, materials, and equipment.

- Familiarity with dental anatomy and oral health concepts.

- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.

- Manual dexterity and ability to work with small tools and instruments.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills.

- Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety practices.

- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
