As an Aircraft Fuel Systems specialist in the 2A6X4 career field, you will play a critical role in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft fuel systems within the Air Force. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting fuel system malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of fuel systems. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring aircraft safety and mission readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fuel System Maintenance: Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft fuel systems, including fuel tanks, pumps, valves, filters, and associated components. Use technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and specialized tools to identify and resolve fuel system malfunctions. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, such as fuel system flushes, inspections, and component replacements, to ensure optimal system performance.
2. Fuel System Testing and Calibration: Perform fuel system testing, including flow rate measurements, pressure checks, and leak detection, to ensure system integrity and functionality. Calibrate and adjust fuel system components according to technical specifications. Maintain accurate records of tests, calibrations, and adjustments performed.
3. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and regulations when working with aircraft fuel systems and handling fuel. Follow established protocols for fueling operations, including safety precautions and fuel quality control measures. Ensure compliance with technical orders, maintenance procedures, and safety guidelines. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of fuel system maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements. Complete required maintenance forms, logs, and work orders. Generate reports on system status, maintenance requirements, and recommended improvements. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to provide updates on projects and ongoing maintenance efforts.
5. Training and Teamwork: Stay updated on technical knowledge and regulations related to aircraft fuel systems. Attend training programs and maintain required certifications. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and support mission requirements. Provide training and guidance to personnel involved in fuel system maintenance and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft fuel systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and specialized tools for fuel system maintenance.
- Familiarity with fuel quality control measures and fueling operations.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance.
