As an Aircraft Armament Systems specialist in the 2W1X1 career field, you will play a vital role in maintaining and operating aircraft armament systems and munitions for the Air Force. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, loading, and maintaining various weapons systems and ensuring their proper functionality and safety. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to precision in armament operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Munitions Handling and Loading: Perform inspections, assembly, disassembly, and loading of aircraft munitions, including bombs, missiles, and guns. Follow strict protocols and safety procedures to ensure proper handling, storage, transportation, and loading of munitions onto aircraft. Coordinate with other personnel to ensure accurate and timely munitions supply.

2. Armament Systems Maintenance: Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of aircraft armament systems, including release mechanisms, gun systems, and targeting devices. Troubleshoot malfunctions, repair or replace faulty components, and perform system adjustments as necessary. Ensure compliance with technical orders and maintenance procedures.

3. Weapons Release Systems Operation: Operate and test aircraft weapons release systems to ensure proper functioning and accuracy. Perform functional checks and system tests to validate release system integrity. Collaborate with aircrew and other maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and resolve any system-related issues.

4. Armament Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of armament operations, inspections, maintenance activities, and munitions inventory. Complete required documentation, including maintenance forms and munitions accounting records. Generate reports on system status, maintenance requirements, and recommended improvements. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to provide updates on projects and ongoing maintenance efforts.

5. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations while working with armament systems and munitions. Follow established procedures for storage, handling, and transportation of hazardous materials. Maintain awareness of safety guidelines and ensure compliance during all armament operations. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Qualifications:

- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft armament systems, munitions, and safety protocols.

- Proficiency in munitions handling, loading, and armament systems maintenance.

- Understanding of release mechanisms, gun systems, and targeting devices used in aircraft armament.

- Familiarity with technical orders, maintenance procedures, and documentation requirements.

- Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and procedures.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with team members and aircrew.

- Attention to detail and commitment to following strict protocols and safety guidelines.

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance.
