As an Advanced Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics Technician in the 2A3X5 career field, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and supporting the advanced avionics systems of Air Force fighter aircraft. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining integrated avionics systems to ensure the safe and effective operation of these high-performance aircraft. This position demands technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Avionics System Maintenance: Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on advanced fighter aircraft avionics systems. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, electrical, and communication systems, including radar, navigation, communications, weapons delivery, and defensive systems. Adhere to technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations to ensure the highest standards of maintenance and operational readiness.

2. Component Repair and Replacement: Remove, install, and align avionics components and systems, such as avionics racks, modules, sensors, antennas, displays, and communication equipment. Test repaired or replaced components to ensure proper functioning. Conduct adjustments, calibrations, and functional checks to maintain system performance.

3. System Integration and Testing: Perform integration and testing of avionics systems to ensure proper operation and compatibility. Utilize specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and software to conduct system checks, configuration updates, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.

4. Inspections and Documentation: Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic inspections to identify and rectify discrepancies in avionics systems. Document maintenance actions, equipment status, and component life cycles accurately. Utilize maintenance databases and computer-based systems to track maintenance activities and manage avionics maintenance records.

5. System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex avionics systems using technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and specialized tools. Analyze system malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.

6. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Follow established maintenance procedures and comply with maintenance and flight regulations. Participate in safety training programs and contribute to safety risk assessments and hazard identification.

7. Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and services on avionics systems and components. Conduct cleaning, testing, and adjustments to ensure proper operation and prevent system failures. Replace consumable parts and adhere to prescribed maintenance intervals.

8. Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a maintenance team to accomplish assigned tasks and meet operational deadlines. Communicate and coordinate with supervisors, peers, and other personnel to ensure efficient workflow and effective maintenance operations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians as required.

9. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on technological advancements, maintenance procedures, and regulations related to advanced fighter aircraft avionics systems. Attend training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance technical knowledge and skills. Embrace a culture of continuous improvement and actively contribute to process enhancements and efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (higher education preferred).

- Successful completion of Air Force Advanced Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics technical training

- Strong technical knowledge of advanced fighter aircraft avionics systems, components, and maintenance procedures.

- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex electronic, electrical, and communication systems.

- Familiarity with technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance databases.

- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
