MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High school diploma, GED with 15 college credits, or GED

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of basic munitions systems course

  • Normal color vision

  • Normal depth perception

  • No record of emotional instability or domestic violence

  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license to operate government motor vehicles

  • Completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit

  • Completion of 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training

  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 39

 

Technical Training: 43 days

Technical School Location: Sheppard AFB TX

Status Upon Completion of Technical School: CCAF Degree credits earned towards Munitions System Technology.

 

Job Description: Munition System Technicians tests, processes and assembles nonnuclear munitions. They prepare and load munitions on aircrafts, check safe and arm mechanisms, install warheads, guidance units, fuses, arming wires, explosive bolts, squibs, strakes, wings, fins, control surfaces, and tracking flares as well as prepare, assemble and test aircraft rockets and loads in launchers. The Munitions System Technician also process aircraft gun ammunition, maintain and recondition munitions and MMHE, recondition, repair, and replace defective or missing parts. They also work to maintain the shop or bench stock material, secure replenishment, modify munitions and all MMHE when directed. Munitions System Technicians also inspect munitions for serviceability and apply munitions product assurance procedures; they install spotting charges in bombs, process ammunition, inspect ammunition, components, and containers for defects. They also perform routine demilitarization of nonexplosive munitions items, repackage munitions and apply container markings. Preparing documentation and indicating identification and quantity of assets is also among their tasks as a Munitions Systems Technician.
