MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High school diploma, GED with 15 college credits, or GED

ASVAB REQUIREMENTS

  • General; Mechanical

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Control principles and procedures

  • Must maintain Ground-based Aircraft Controller Medical Standards

  • Ability to speak English clearly and distinctly

  • Completion of a current National Agency Check and Local Agency Checks and Credit

  • Completion of 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training

  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 39

 

Technical Training: 72 days

Technical School Location: Keesler AFB MS

Status Upon Completion of Technical School: CCAF Degree with credits earned towards Air Traffic Operations and Management.

 

Job Description: Air Traffic Control airmen learn air traffic control principles and procedures, flight characteristics of aircraft, and international, federal and military air directives. They use aeronautical charts, maps, and publications in their daily work, to augment their use of radar and other navigational aids. They also have a working knowledge of meteorology and are well-versed in the principles of organization, purpose, operation, and management of all types of air traffic control facilities.
