MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High school diploma, GED with 15 college credits, or GED

ASVAB REQUIREMENTS

  • Electronics

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge in interpreting and applying mechanical, wiring and electronic circuit diagrams

  • Completion of advanced Writing Maintenance course Normal color vision

  • Completion of current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit

  • Completion of 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training

  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 39

 

Technical Training: 117 days

Technical School Location: Sheppard AFB TX

Status Upon Completion of Technical School: CCAF Degree with credits earned towards Avionics Systems Technology.

 

Job Description: Bomber Special Integrated Communication Systems / Navigation Systems airman are also known as Communication Navigation. Comm Nav airmen are maintainers who work on all the communication systems like radios, and any other system that deals with communications inside and out of the aircraft. They also work with navigation systems such as radar, and other systems that like GPS to help the crew navigate the aircraft. Communication Navigators make sure that all systems are operating properly for the air crew to use on missions.
