MINIMUM EDUCATION

High school diploma, GED with 15 college credits, or GED

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough understanding of passenger and cargo movement functions

  • Completion of a basic air transportation course

  • Experience in functions such as processing cargo and loading and unloading an aircraft

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license to operate government motor vehicles

  • Completion of 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training

  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 39

 

Technical Training: 29 days

Technical School Location: Ft. Lee VA

Status Upon Completion of Technical School: CCAF Degree with credits earned towards Transportation.

 

Job Description: Air Transportation airmen plan and organize air transportation activities, including determining the supplies, facilities, and personnel needed. These airmen do procedures for loading both passengers and cargo aboard aircraft and implement any necessary safety precautions for handling dangerous materials, special cargo, mail, and baggage. Air transportation airmen are also direct air transportation activities, including unloading and any airdrops of supplies or other items. They establish procedures aboard aircraft for any passenger or aircraft clearance across international borders.
