As a Pest Management specialist in the 3E4X3 career field, you will play a crucial role in protecting military installations and personnel from pests and related health hazards. Your responsibilities will include conducting pest inspections, implementing pest control measures, and providing guidance on pest prevention and management. This position requires a strong understanding of pest control principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pest Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, buildings, and surrounding areas to identify pest infestations, potential entry points, and conducive conditions. Use appropriate tools and techniques to detect and assess pest presence, including insects, rodents, and other pests. Document inspection findings and develop pest control plans based on assessment results.

2. Pest Control Measures: Implement effective pest control measures to eradicate and prevent pest infestations. Apply approved pesticides, traps, and other control methods in accordance with established guidelines and regulations. Monitor pest control activities and evaluate their effectiveness. Document treatment details and maintain accurate records of pest control operations.

3. Pest Prevention and Management: Provide guidance and education to military personnel and facility occupants on pest prevention and management practices. Advise on proper sanitation, waste management, and structural modifications to minimize pest attraction and entry. Collaborate with maintenance personnel and other stakeholders to address structural deficiencies that may contribute to pest issues.

4. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations while conducting pest control operations. Handle and apply pesticides in accordance with safety guidelines and applicable laws. Follow established protocols for the storage, handling, and disposal of pest control chemicals and waste. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of pest control activities, inspections, treatments, and training. Complete required documentation, including work orders, treatment logs, and inventory records. Generate reports on pest control operations, trends, and recommendations to support ongoing efforts and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of pest control principles, techniques, and best practices.

- Familiarity with common pests, their behaviors, and their control methods.

- Proficiency in conducting pest inspections and developing pest control plans.

- Knowledge of pesticide handling and application techniques.

- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

- Effective communication skills to provide guidance and education to military personnel and facility occupants.

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance.
