Airmen describing Cyber Surety

As a Cyber Surety specialist in the 3D0X3 career field, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of information systems and networks for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include assessing and mitigating cybersecurity risks, implementing security measures, and conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and regulations. This position requires strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a commitment to maintaining a secure cyber environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cybersecurity Assessments: Conduct cybersecurity assessments and risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to information systems and networks. Evaluate system configurations, security controls, and access privileges. Provide recommendations for enhancing security posture and mitigating risks. Stay updated on emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

2. Security Implementation: Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures to protect information systems and networks. Configure and monitor security tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security technologies. Develop and enforce security policies and procedures. Collaborate with system administrators and network operators to ensure compliance with security requirements.

3. Incident Response and Investigations: Respond to cybersecurity incidents, including malware infections, unauthorized access, and data breaches. Conduct forensic investigations to determine the root cause and impact of security incidents. Coordinate with incident response teams to contain, mitigate, and recover from cyber incidents. Document and report incident details, actions taken, and lessons learned.

4. Audits and Inspections: Perform audits and inspections of information systems and networks to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, regulations, and best practices. Identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans. Collaborate with system owners and stakeholders to address security gaps and vulnerabilities. Provide guidance and training on cybersecurity policies and practices.

5. Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs to promote a culture of cybersecurity among Air Force personnel. Educate users on cybersecurity best practices, password management, social engineering awareness, and other security-related topics. Conduct security briefings and workshops to raise awareness and address user concerns.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Cyber Surety Apprentice Course.

- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and industry standards.

- Familiarity with network protocols, security technologies, and risk assessment methodologies.

- Experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners.

- Understanding of incident response procedures and forensic investigation techniques.

- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
