As a Command and Control Battle Management Operations specialist in the 1C5X1 career field, you will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and executing command and control operations for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include managing and monitoring air defense systems, conducting airspace surveillance, and providing critical situational awareness to commanders. This position requires strong analytical skills, decision-making abilities, effective communication, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Command and Control Operations: Execute command and control operations by monitoring and managing air defense systems, radar networks, and communications equipment. Analyze incoming data, identify threats, and coordinate appropriate response measures. Maintain real-time situational awareness and provide timely and accurate information to commanders and decision-makers.
2. Airspace Surveillance: Conduct airspace surveillance and monitoring activities to detect and track aircraft movements. Utilize radar systems, sensor networks, and other surveillance tools to identify potential threats or unauthorized intrusions. Collaborate with air traffic control units and other agencies to maintain a safe and secure airspace environment.
3. Tactical Data Link Operations: Coordinate and maintain tactical data link networks, including Link 16 and other standardized communication systems. Monitor data link connectivity, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate and timely data exchange between aircraft, ground-based systems, and command centers. Collaborate with other units to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
4. Mission Planning and Execution: Assist in mission planning and execution by providing input on airspace management, threat assessment, and operational capabilities. Collaborate with mission planners, intelligence personnel, and other units to develop effective operational strategies and tactics. Participate in exercises and real-world operations to execute command and control functions.
5. Training and Readiness: Maintain proficiency in command and control systems, procedures, and tactics. Participate in training exercises, simulations, and mission rehearsals to enhance operational readiness. Stay updated on emerging technologies, techniques, and threat environments to ensure continuous improvement and adaptability.
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.
- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Command and Control Battle Management Operations Apprentice Course.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of command and control systems, radar operations, and airspace management.
- Familiarity with tactical data links and communication protocols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and command and control software.
